SMALL BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas – The Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 2019 Small Business Person of the Year Award. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 15 and may be submitted online at www.SmallBusinessInNewBraunfels.com

The Small Business Person of the Year will be celebrated May 5 through 11, 2019 as New Braunfels joins the rest of the nation in observing Small Business Week. The Chamber works year-round to support small businesses and takes this opportunity to honor a local small business person who has made a significant positive impact on the community while successfully operating their business.

Since 1990, the Small Business Person of the Year Award has recognized the outstanding contributions of small business people to the economy and overall progress of the New Braunfels trade area. To be eligible for nomination, the business person must be a member of the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, must own their business, must exhibit community involvement, and must employ less than 50 employees, all for the last five years.

Once all nominations have been received and all the nominees have been vetted, the Small Business Week Committee will select the top three recipients and in April the Chamber’s Board of Directors will decide upon the finalist. The name of the recipient will remain confidential until the committee arranges a surprise visit to the awardee’s place of business to announce that they have been named the 2019 Small Business Person of the Year.

During Small Business Week, proclamations will be made by the Comal County Commissioners Court and the City of New Braunfels designating the week as Small Business Week and honoring the Small Business Person of the Year. Also during the week posters will be displayed in local businesses and the public will be encouraged to shop local. The community will be asked to wear yellow on Friday, May 10 in recognition of all business owners. The Small Business Person of the Year will also be honored at a reception in May in Honors Hall.
