The New Braunfels Chamber is proud to announce that Myra Zunker, owner of he Chandelier of Gruene, has been selected as the 2023 Small Business Person of the Year. The announcement was made Monday, March 27th when members of the Chamber's Board, staff, and Small Business Week committee made a surprise visit with the announcement.

The Chandelier of Gruene was a dream that started in 2010 while Zunker was helping plan her oldest daughter's wedding. As a family with six plus generations from New Braunfels, they knew a small wedding was not in the cards, and realized the need for an event venue in the community that could accommodate more than 300 people.

That dream became a reality when The Chandelier of Gruene was established in 2016, with their first wedding nearly six years ago on May 6, 2017 after the venue's completion.

"Our success is due to our family operation," said Zunker. "Every client that works with us feels that family connection...every client is special and deserving of having the event of their dreams."

Since 1990, the Small Business Person of the Year award has recognized the outstanding contributions of small business people to the economy and overall progress of the New Braunfels trade area. To be eligible for nomination, the business person must be a member of the New Braunfels Chamber, own their business, exhibit community involvement, and employ less than 50 employees, all for the last five years.

Myra Zunker with The Chandelier of Gruene will be recognized as the 2023 Small Business Person of the Year through proclamations made by the New Braunfels City Council and the Comal County Commissioners Court this month.
