New Braunfels Utilities Power Supply Manager Receives
Robert E. Roundtree Rising Roundtree Rising Star Award at
National Conference

(New Braunfels, TX – June 19, 2018) — David Hubbard, power supply manager of
New Braunfels Utilities (NBU), received the Robert E. Roundtree Rising Star Award at
the American Public Power Association’s national conference in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This award is a scholarship presented to future leaders in public power. Hubbard will
receive a stipend to travel to one of the Association’s conferences or training programs to
advance his education and development in public power.

David Hubbard has served as the power supply manager for New Braunfels Utilities
since 2017. He has done exceptional work to advance NBU’s goals. He revived several
dormant initiatives at the utility and helped negotiate pivotal power purchases that saved
customers money and protected NBU from market instability. “Because of David’s efforts,
New Braunfels Utilities’ customers are able to realize the benefits of consistent and
stable electric rates, which are among the lowest in the country,” said Ian Taylor, New
Braunfels Utilities CEO. “David and his team spend much of their time researching and
challenging current data in order to strategically meet the needs of our growing customer
base,” added Taylor.

“Understanding and navigating today’s energy market requires analyzing complex data
from multiple sources in both real time and future markets,” said Al Kaufmann, COO,
New Braunfels Utilities. “David’s solid understanding of the Texas power allowed him to
implement programs that are benefiting our customers now and well into the future,”
Kaufmann added.

David developed performance metrics to keep the NBU Board of Trustees informed of
the utility’s power portfolio in a clear and concise manner. He was a major contributor in
the creation of NBU’s energy conservation division and customer rebate programs. He
has received many accolades in the community, including the New Braunfels Jaycees,
the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung, and the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of
Commerce’s 40 under 40 award.
