Library Foundation Presents an Evening with Admiral William H. McCraven

New Braunfels, TX — Four-Star Admiral William H. McRaven, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling book Make Your Bed, Little Things That Will Change Your Life…And Maybe the World, will present his new book Sea Stories, My Life in Special Operations at an evening reception on Thursday, January 16th at the McKenna Event Center, sponsored by the New Braunfels Public Library Foundation.

Sea Stories begins in 1960 at the American Officers’ Club in France, where Allied officers and their wives gathered to tell stories about their adventures during World War II, the place where a young Bill McRaven learned the value of a good story. Sea Stories is an unforgettable look back on one man’s incredible life, from childhood days sneaking into high-security military sites to a day job of hunting terrorists and rescuing hostages.

Admiral William H. McRaven is a part of American military history, having been involved in some of the most famous missions in recent memory, including the capture of Saddam Hussein, the rescue of Captain Richard Phillips, and the raid to kill Osama bin Laden.

In his thirty-seven years as a Navy SEAL, he commanded at every level. As a Four-Star Admiral, his final assignment was as Commander of all U.S. Special Operations Forces. After retiring from the Navy, he served as the Chancellor of the University of Texas System from 2015 to 2018. He now lives in Austin with his wife, Georgeann.

An evening with Admiral McRaven is $45 per person, and his books with signed bookplate will be available for purchase. A VIP reception beforehand with photo op and an opportunity to meet the Admiral is $125 per person. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and each person will receive a copy of his book and Tier One seating at the program.

This event has been generously underwritten to date, by Presenting Sponsor CEMEX, and Four-Star Sponsor Rougeux and Associates.

All proceeds will go toward the purchase of an outreach van for the library, enabling homebound patrons, including our veterans, to receive library materials, as well as providing pop up mobile programs and the transfer of materials between the RIOmobile, Westside and the main library.

Tickets are limited and can be purchased at https://eveningwithwilliammcraven.eventbrite.com or accessed through the  NB Library Foundation Facebook page.
