It is an honor to announce that Ian Taylor has been selected as a recipient of the Chair of the Board Award in the field of Public Service for 2023. This award is designed to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community in a specific field of civic endeavor, and no more than six such awards are bestowed each year.
Taylor has worked at New Braunfels Utilities for 17 years, most recently serving in the Chief Executive Officer role since 2016. He joined the NBU team in 2005 as the Manager of Water Operations and Maintenance, and in 2009 was named Chief Engineer of Water Systems, where he oversaw water and wastewater planning, design, and program management. During his tenure as CEO, he guided significant investments in water capacity and the design of an ambitious and necessary capital plan.
Prior to joining NBU, Ian was a Senior Project Manager for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) where he led the implementation of electric transmission and distribution infrastructure. Prior to LCRA, he was an Engineer for Motorola. He is a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
Ian is a member of several national and local organizations including the American Water Works Association and the Water Environment Federation. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Headwaters at the Comal, the Board of Directors of the Texas Public Power Association, the Advisory Board for the Institute for Global Business for the McCoy College of Business at Texas State University, the Board of Directors of the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, and Board of Directors for the Greater New Braunfels Economic Development Foundation. He is a member of the Texas Water Development Board’s South Central Texas Regional Water Planning Group. You also serve as a Captain in the Texas State Guard Engineer Group and various leadership roles in Cub Scout Pack 163, Boy Scout Troop 163, and the Wurstfest Association.
