HEALS Act Could Provide Additional Relief if Passed

Published Friday, July 31, 2020 11:00am

Last week Senate Republicans released several bills that make up the Health, Economic Assistance, Liability Protection and Schools (HEALS) Act, a $1 trillion proposal. The proposed relief measure includes another round of stimulus checks, extends unemployment benefits, liability protection for businesses, funding for reopening schools and colleges and several important tax credits to provide additional financial release.

In addition to addressing other key issues, the HEALS Act expands eligibility under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) to 501(c)(6) organizations among other provisions to establish new and existing funds, reauthorize the PPP until the end of the year and expands eligible uses for non-payroll funds.

As negotiations begin to bring a final bill to the President’s desk in the coming weeks, we encourage you to contact your congressional delegate to urge passage of a package to provide relief to Americans. Find your representative here: https://ziplook.house.gov/htbin/findrep_house
