GUNN AUTOMOTIVE GROUP DONATES MUCH NEEDED TECHNOLOGY TO COMAL ISD

Donated LAN switches to connect portables and classrooms with District.

San Antonio, Texas. (Fall 2022) – Gunn Gives, the philanthropic arm of Gunn Automotive Group, has provided the Comal Independent School District with 21 LAN switches to be used as an interim solution to tech supply chain challenges.

A LAN (Local Area Network) ethernet switch is a networked device that cross-connects servers and devices, such as computers or laptops to the network. Also known as a “frame switch” LAN switches are used to connect areas where dozens or hundreds of computers are in use.

Gunn Auto was in the process of replacing switches for their various dealerships when contractor Computer Solutions told Gunn about the District’s immediate need.

“As soon as we heard that the schools needed switches to connect their portable classrooms, we were happy to donate them to such an important cause,” said Tony Rhodes, Gunn Auto Group’s Executive Director of Information and Consumer Strategy. “We’ve seen firsthand how supply chain issues can devastate a business and we wanted to make sure that these students had access to Internet and other technologies that make learning easier.”

Gunn donated 21 switches, with a retail cost of more than $82,000.
