Governor Greg Abbott issued an executive order on the morning of Thursday, September 17 loosening coronavirus restrictions for restaurants and other businesses in most of Texas. The order applies to all regions in the state excluding those areas with high hospitalizations of coronavirus patients.

The order expands occupancy levels for restaurants, retail stores, office buildings, manufacturing facilities, gyms and exercise facilities and classes, museums and libraries from 50% to 75% capacity effective September 21, 2020.

In addition, nursing homes and long-term care facilities can reopen for visitors following guidelines, and hospitals authorized regions will be allowed to offer normal elective procedures. Bars were ordered to remain closed.
