During the monthly Chamber Board of Directors meeting on Monday, December 13, Chair of the Board Nathan Manlove awarded Dr. Dorothy Overman with the Chair of the Board Award in the field of community health for her heroic efforts on behalf of the community during the pandemic. This award is designed to honor individuals who have made a significant contribution to the community in a specific field of civic endeavor.

Dr. Overman began one of the first female-led medical practices in New Braunfels, which has since evolved into founding the Hill Country Medical Associates group with other doctors. Hill Country Medical has served generations of residents and has grown into one of the largest medical practices in the community.

Dr. Overman was instrumental in establishing Volunteers in Medicine, the first and only free medical clinic in New Braunfels. In 2016, her expertise was further recognized when she was asked to participate on the Governor's Task Force for Infectious Disease. Most recently, Dr. Overman worked to provide accurate data and appropriate information to the public during the pandemic.

The awardee is presented a letter from the Chair of the Board at a Board of Directors meeting, then presented a plaque at the Annual Chamber Banquet. The selection committee for this award is made up of the Immediate Past Chair, Chair of the Board, and Chair-Elect.
