Comal County Criminal District Attorney to Speak at Jaycees Luncheon

The New Braunfels Jaycees will hold their monthly Leadership Luncheon Tuesday, August 21 at noon at the McKenna Events Center. The program will be provided by Comal County Criminal District Attorney Jennifer Tharp.

Tharp’s 14-year career in public service began as a General Litigator with Attorney General Greg Abbott where she defended the State of Texas. She joined the Comal Criminal District Attorney’s Office in 2004 and held several positions, including Chief Civil Prosecutor, before being elected Criminal District Attorney. Jennifer is the first female District Attorney in Comal County’s history as well as its youngest.

Tharp is active in many civic organizations and currently serves as board member for Comal Cops for Kids Foundation, New Braunfels Christian Ministries, the Children’s Advocacy Center of Comal County, and the Texas District and County Attorneys Association Board President-Elect. She is also active in Comal County University, Leadership New Braunfels, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Blue Santa, Green Santa, Wurstfest, Braunfels Foundation, New Braunfels Republican Women, Bulverde Area Republican Women, Canyon Lake Republican Women, and the Republican Club of Comal County. Tharp’s work to serve and protect children has been recognized by community organizations such as CASA, Options for Women, and Crisis Center of Comal County. In 2012, Jennifer was awarded the Chamber’s Chair of the Board Award in the field of youth protection and the Community Builder Award from the New Braunfels Mason Lodge No. 1109.

The Jaycees (Junior Chamber) are New Braunfels’ young professionals organization. They are made up of aspiring leaders between the ages of 18-40 who are looking to grow their network, become engaged in the community, progress their professional development, and work towards creating a better New Braunfels through volunteering and philanthropic efforts. The Jaycees help prepare their members to become the business and community leaders of New Braunfels’ future.
