At today’s Chamber Board of Directors Meeting, an update on the NBU Headwaters of the Comal was given, Pat Wiggins was honored with a Chair of the Board Award, and an update on the workforce development strategy was given. The Headwaters project is now setup as a separate 501(c)(3) organization and expects to complete phase 1 by October 31.

The Chamber’s Business-Education Partnership committee has spearheaded a new workforce development strategy that includes the NEPRIS software. NEPRIS is a virtual program connecting local schools with business professionals who can provide training sessions, discussions and mentoring. New Braunfels ISD, Comal ISD, New Braunfels Christian Academy, Premiere High School, Communities In Schools and St. John Paul II are all participating in the program. Teachers at all of those school have been trained on how to use the program and how to connect their students with professionals who can provide real-world relevancy to the information being taught in the classroom.
